Turner Construction breaks ground on NYC’s $780M soccer stadium, Etihad Park—a 25,000-seat venue with cutting-edge design and green features in Queens.

Turner Construction has broken ground on Etihad Park, New York City’s first soccer-specific stadium and the future home of New York City Football Club (NYCFC). Located in Willets Point, Queens, this $780 million project marks a significant milestone in urban development and sports infrastructure for the city. The 25,000-seat stadium is part of a larger redevelopment plan that includes affordable housing, retail spaces, a hotel, and a new public school, creating a vibrant new destination for both soccer fans and the local community.

Key features

Designed with NYCFC fans in mind, the stadium’s architecture prioritizes creating an exceptional game-day experience. Spectator seating will offer optimal sightlines, allowing fans to feel close to the action, while acoustics are engineered to amplify the crowd’s energy. The project’s architects and engineers have worked closely with supporters to incorporate community input, ensuring the stadium reflects the passion of its dedicated fan base. This collaboration extends beyond design and into the spirit of the venue, aiming to make it a cultural hub for soccer in the city.

Renders courtesy of HOK.

Sustainability and inclusivity are core features of Etihad Park. The stadium will employ energy-efficient systems and environmentally friendly materials to minimize its ecological footprint. Accessibility is also a key focus, with the design featuring accommodations for fans with disabilities, ensuring that every visitor has a comfortable and enjoyable experience. The commitment to sustainability aligns with New York City’s broader goals of reducing carbon emissions and embracing green building practices.

In addition to its design and environmental features, the project promises significant economic benefits for the local community. Turner Construction is partnering with local unions to create thousands of jobs during the building phase, while ongoing operations will generate long-term employment opportunities. The inclusion of affordable housing and public amenities as part of the Willets Point redevelopment will also provide lasting value to the Queens community.

Renders courtesy of HOK.

When completed in 2027, Etihad Park will serve as the operational heart of NYCFC and a key driver in transforming Willets Point into a dynamic destination for residents and visitors. The stadium is poised to become an architectural landmark in New York City, blending cutting-edge design with community-centered development.

It’s a bold step forward for both NYCFC and the city itself, bringing together fans, residents, and businesses to create a shared space that embodies the passion of soccer and the vibrancy of New York.

Turner Construction completes $345M 222 North project in San Marcos, CA. The 600,000 sq. ft. development offers housing, retail, and offices.

Turner Construction and its partners celebrated the completion of the $345 million 222 North project in San Marcos, California. This milestone marks significant progress in a large-scale mixed-use development set to transform the area. Once complete, the project will include residential units, retail spaces, and community amenities to support San Marcos’s growing population and infrastructure needs.

North City development. Photo source: Sea Breeze Properties.

The project, located near the SPRINTER rail line and City Hall, spans over 600,000 square feet and consists of four interconnected buildings. It will feature 330 residential units, approximately 20,000 square feet of retail space, and 13,000 square feet of office space. Community-focused amenities include a public plaza, parking facilities, and pedestrian-friendly pathways. By combining retail, office, and residential spaces in one development, the 222 North project aims to create a vibrant, walkable environment for locals.

Turner Construction worked closely with developers Sea Breeze Properties and designers at Architects Orange to bring this project to life. The construction process emphasized energy-efficient design and sustainable materials to reduce the project’s environmental impact. With the structural framework now complete, the team will focus on interior finishes, landscaping, and infrastructure details as the project heads toward completion.

A unique feature of 222 North is its commitment to seamlessly integrating public and private spaces. The development’s centerpiece is a community plaza that will serve as a hub for events, gatherings, and everyday socializing. Retail tenants, including restaurants and specialty shops, are expected to energize the space further by attracting foot traffic and creating a lively atmosphere.

North City development. Photo source: Sea Breeze Properties.

This mixed-use project represents a significant investment in San Marcos’s downtown core, supporting economic growth and revitalizing the area. During construction, 222 North created hundreds of jobs and is expected to sustain long-term economic activity once operational.

Turner Construction’s reputation for efficiently handling large-scale projects played a key role in meeting the structural milestone on time. The topping-out event, held on the project’s site, brought together the project’s stakeholders, construction teams, and local leaders to celebrate this achievement. As one of the largest recent developments in San Marcos, 222 North is anticipated to set a new standard for mixed-use construction in the region.

The new state-of-the-art Broncos training facility will feature over 205,000 square feet across three floors and is expected to be 30% larger.

Turner Construction has begun work on the Denver Broncos’ new $175 million headquarters and training facility at the Centura Health Training Center in Englewood, Colorado. This new development is set to be 30% larger than the existing complex, encompassing over 320,000 square feet with a contemporary design. Once completed, it will be connected to the Pat Bowlen Fieldhouse and elevate the Broncos’ status as having one of the premier training facilities in the NFL.

Aerial rendering of the Denver Broncos’ new offices at Centura Health Training Center. Render provided by HOK.

The project includes two and a half levels, featuring modernized collaborative spaces and cutting-edge training amenities for players and staff. Designed with a “player-first” mindset, the new headquarters will integrate all essential training spaces—weight room, indoor practice facility, and walkthrough areas—into the main building, providing a seamless player experience. The first floor is specifically designed to optimize player movement, from the locker room to meeting rooms and sports performance areas, with an additional 21,000 square feet of player space. Football operations will be housed on the second floor of the new facility, while the third floor will be dedicated to business operations.

Upon completion, more than 70 employees from Empower Field at Mile High will relocate to the new headquarters, centralizing the team’s operations under one roof. The Broncos’ President Damani Leech emphasized that the project aligns with the organization’s goals, saying, “This facility will set a new standard, not just in football, but in the sports industry overall.” Construction is expected to maintain the team’s operational activities, including hosting fans at training camps throughout the building process.

Aerial rendering of the Denver Broncos’ new offices at Centura Health Training Center. Render provided by HOK.

This expansion marks a significant investment by the Walton-Penner Family Ownership Group, demonstrating their commitment to improving the team’s performance and the overall fan experience. Broncos Owner & CEO Greg Penner stated, “Our vision is to create a new home for the Denver Broncos that reflects our values of winning and teamwork with a modern Colorado design,”

Denver partnered with global design and architecture firm HOK and the interdisciplinary Rockwell Group to create the blueprint for the new facility, ensuring it meets the team’s advanced operational and performance needs.

The facility is expected to be completed by the 2026 NFL season. Once finished, the Broncos will have a unified, world-class hub that promotes player performance, supports team operations, and creates a more engaging experience for fans during training camp. This investment signals a long-term vision for the organization.
