The MākuSafe safety device that could save a worker’s life

Written By Mariah Moore

MākuSafe is innovating technology in the construction industry with wearables that improve worker safety, health, and productivity. The software mitigates workplace hazards and exposure to risks thanks to real-time environmental, health, and safety data with predictive value right on their person.

Because users get live data and actionable recommendations on the spot, workers’ comp claims are reduced by 50%, and incident severity is reduced by 90%, according to MākuSafe. This means less money spent on claims by construction companies and, more importantly, safer conditions for workers.

How MakuSafe makes safety leaders efficient

At MākuSafe, priority number one is keeping people protected, but the company also strives to ensure that safety leaders can do their jobs more effectively and efficiently. Each wearable collects real-time data about workplace risks or hazards. From there, the MākuSmart cloud platform displays the analytics and uses machine learning and AI to recognize patterns and trends.

The safety software then creates alerts for leadership teams to step in quickly and take action in the right way. This effectively simplifies the hazard identification and control process while reducing tedious compliance and administration. It makes things more productive without any routine safety procedures slipping through the cracks.

Some insights MākuSafe tracks include slips, trips, falls, exertion risks, noise exposure, individual heat index, and poor air quality. This allows workers, when alerted, to work with leaders to opt out of unsafe work.

MākuSafe also streamlines near-miss reports by enabling push-to-talk self-reporting for workers, including observations. The push-to-talk feature’s environmental, health, and safety data is automatically gathered and uploaded to the cloud, all while staying secure and respecting employee privacy. Raising the frequency of near-miss reporting and observations contributes to a larger and stronger safety culture for all.

Capabilities and use cases of MakuSafe

MākuSafe isn’t only used for the construction site. Safety wearables are used in various applications. Capabilities and common scenarios include:

  • Insights into strain, exertion, and musculoskeletal disorder prevention for workers with repetitive tasks
  • Risk and hazard identification for forklift safety
  • Seamless data cloud connection for remote and field workers
  • Advanced worker integrations for manufacturing facilities
  • Operational efficiency software for trades
  • Offline real-time safety data connection for sites without wi-fi

MākuSafe is great for any industry where physical safety is a high priority. For construction, manufacturing, and other industrial organizations, it’s a must-have.

MākuSafe also has extensive resources on how the technology works and articles on how the tool maintains security and privacy. As far as pricing goes, MākuSafe for 100 workers for an entire year costs less than one slip-and-fall claim, which costs companies roughly $47,516. It’s typical that the software finds multiple health and safety hazards within a site over the first few weeks, making it a great value and return on investment right off the bat. You can connect with MākuSafe directly for a quote.

Technology in the construction industry has been scaling faster than ever. With so much innovation in productivity and materials in the space, it’s great to see safety getting the upgrade to match.
