CES award spotlight: The AI Transformer Home Trailer (AI-THt)

Written By Sarah Poirier

AI Transformer Home Trailer

ACFuture’s AI Transformer Home Trailer (AI-THt) was one of the winners of the highly coveted CES 2026 Innovation Awards, and it’s no surprise why. The company has a vision for a future where its mobile homes seamlessly blend vehicle technology, home design, and automation—all cleverly packed into a compact unit that can switch effortlessly between getting you from place to place and becoming your home sweet home. At its core, ACFuture‘s mission is to create mobile spaces that feel just as much like home as a brick-and-mortar house—and they’re using AI to make all the mechanical adjustments and user settings pretty seamless. In this piece, we’re going to take a closer look at what the AI-THt has to offer and what caught the judges’ attention at CES.

Inside the AI Transformer Home Trailer

The AI-THt is a mobile trailer that expands into a larger living unit via automated panels and controlled extensions. Now, instead of having a fixed interior footprint, the trailer can shift between travel mode—when it’s compact and towed behind a vehicle—and full living mode—when it’s parked at a campsite, with a multi-room layout. It’s all thanks to the onboard AI system that keeps the unit compact on the move but opens up into a spacious interior when you need it to.

Inside the trailer, you’ve got all the usual suspects: sleeping space, kitchen, storage areas, and a bathroom. The AI system is responsible for all lighting, climate control, energy use, and the expansion process. ACFuture built this model for people who want to set up faster than a conventional RV, and for those who value technology that can adapt the interior to their exact preferences. If you’re a digital nomad, a small family, or a survey crew who need to stay mobile, this trailer’s got you covered.

Is this the future of trailers?

ACFuture brought the AI-THt to life with a seriously clever shell system that can expand to provide loads more room to live in once you’ve arrived at your destination. No more fiddling with cranks or complicated mechanical bits—just pop the AI tech into action, and it’ll sort the whole setup out for you, based on what you need. So you can get set up quickly and enjoy a home that feels like home, no matter where in the world you are. It won a CES award for its ability to switch between modes, do it all with style, and still keep everything rock-solid and stable.

To make life easier on your wallet and the environment, the unit also includes energy management tools that adjust power consumption based on your available resources. That’s a big plus for off-grid campers or users relying on portable solar arrays—and it also tracks climate control, battery levels, and interior air quality, automatically adjusting settings to save power.

ACFuture also put significant thought into durability and travel readiness. The trailer’s shell is designed to withstand repeated expansion cycles and road movement, and the engineering behind the frame and mechanical joints is sufficient for both highway towing and extended stationary use. This is no rough-around-the-edges trailer—this thing is built to last and withstand the elements.

Demand for mobile living is going up

The AI-THt speaks directly to the growing demand for mobile living—people working remotely, traveling seasonally, or looking for flexible alternatives to fixed housing. Traditional RVs often require manual labor and lengthy setup times—but ACFuture’s AI system changes all that. It’s a game-changer for both occasional travellers and long-term trailer users.

For designers and builders, this project shows how automation can totally transform compact living. Automated expansion, smart energy management, and adaptive interior controls are the way forward for small-space housing – and it’s a trend that’s only just beginning to take off.

The AI-THt is also a great example of how future mobile housing can support sustainability goals. With its energy management and adaptable structure, it becomes easier to stay off-grid, and all that comes with it—and it’s definitely a step up from those older, bigger RVs that guzzle power.
