Bridgestone expands construction tire lineup with three heavy-duty launches at CONEXPO 2026

Written By Sarah Poirier

Heavy equipment tires take constant punishment on construction and quarry sites. Sharp rocks and heavy loads quickly wear down standard tires. At CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026, Bridgestone showed off 3 new tires designed for those conditions and that come out on top with longer service life and less downtime for contractors. The introduction includes the Bridgestone MasterCore V-Steel M-Traction Deep (VMTD), Bridgestone V-Steel Rock Deep Ultra (VRDU), and the Firestone Multi Block T. Each of these tires is made to work with a specific type of machine, whether that’s construction, mining, or quarry work. The goal is longer tire life, better grip, and fewer stoppages on high-production jobs.

MasterCore V-Steel M-Traction Deep built for 100-ton haul trucks

Haul trucks handle huge quantities of rock and aggregate every day, and their tires take a pounding from heavy loads and rough terrain. The MasterCore V-Steel M-Traction Deep (VMTD) tire from Bridgestone is engineered for 100-ton haul trucks operating in deep mining and quarrying. It features deeper tread and a turbo-charged structure, both of which are built to withstand the heavy-hauling cycles these machines endure daily.

The deeper tread helps maintain traction, even when the tire is worn in—a critical piece when navigating loose or uneven haul roads under heavy loads. A stronger casing also supports heavy loads. For contractors and quarry operators, longer-lasting tires mean fewer service interruptions and lower maintenance and replacement costs.

At CONEXPO, Bridgestone product manager RC Johnson highlighted that the VMTD tire is optimized for softer ground conditions, where traction can limit productivity. Using Bridgestone’s MasterCore technology, the tire delivers up to 10% greater payload capacity than conventional haul-truck tires. Its tread depth was increased by roughly 14%, extending service life by about 10%. The result: more material moved per cycle with tires that last longer.

V-Steel Rock Deep Ultra targets rigid dump trucks

Rigid dump trucks face some of the toughest conditions on a construction site, from sharp rocks to heavy payloads that can quickly damage conventional tires. The Bridgestone V-Steel Rock Deep Ultra (VRDU) tire is designed specifically for 60-ton rigid dump trucks operating in rock-heavy environments, featuring a deeper tread and a reinforced structure that resists cutting and chipping.

These improvements keep trucks moving over blasted rock and quarry floors, helping contractors move large volumes of material without worrying about tire-related interruptions. A higher load capacity is another big win with the VRDU tire—it can handle heavier loads reliably, keeping projects on schedule in even the most demanding work conditions.

Johnson also noted that the VRDU’s deep rock tread pattern is designed to promote airflow, reducing heat buildup during operation and extending the tire’s life during long-haul cycles. Classified as Bridgestone’s second three-star haul-truck tire, it’s expected to be available in the second quarter of 2027.

Firestone Multi Block T focuses on traction and durability

Alongside its new Bridgestone tires, the company also rolled out the Firestone Multi Block T—a new off-road tire for construction equipment to maintain traction on mixed surfaces. Its multi-block tread pattern provides a strong grip on loose surfaces such as dirt, gravel, and aggregate.

RC Johnson explained that the Firestone Multi Block T tire is built for machines that move between different types of terrain throughout the workday, specifically targeting loaders and articulated dump trucks operating in mixed construction environments. Compared with earlier Firestone models, the new design increases tread depth by roughly 10% and improves cut resistance by about 10%, helping to extend tire life in abrasive conditions.

Enhanced weight distribution helps slow tread wear and extend service life. In contrast, the tread design delivers consistent traction across uneven terrain, helping machines maintain control during digging, loading, and hauling operations. For contractors, this translates to longer tire life, fewer replacements, and reduced maintenance downtime. The Multi Block T will launch in five sizes and is expected to reach the market in April 2026.

Tires designed to keep machines moving

Equipment tires rarely get much attention compared with engines or hydraulic systems. Yet tire performance plays a major role in keeping heavy equipment productive. The three launches from Bridgestone and Firestone focus on durability and load capacity, both of which are critical in high-production environments such as quarries and large construction projects. Stronger casings and deeper tread patterns help equipment handle rough surfaces without constant tire failures. For contractors, that translates into fewer delays and lower operating costs over the machine’s life.
