Caterpillar introduces new features to VisionLink® productivity platform

As industries worldwide continue to optimize operations, Caterpillar has responded by enhancing its VisionLink® Productivity platform. This cloud-based tool collects telematics and machine data to deliver comprehensive insights into job site performance. With the July 2024 update, VisionLink® Productivity now offers three transformative features: Cat Grade and Compact, Operator Coaching, and Cat Payload E-Ticketing, each designed to streamline workflow and improve productivity.

New features

Cat Grade and Compact for seamless site integration

One of the key new additions to VisionLink® Productivity is Cat Grade 3D and Compact. By utilizing GPS/GNSS corrections, this feature allows for real-time 3D design file updates across multiple machines. This eliminates the need for manual uploads and significantly reduces setup time.

Additionally, Cat Compact uses advanced algorithms to display compaction metrics like daily work progress, fill volume, and target compaction coverage. This provides construction teams with immediate, actionable data to ensure tasks are completed accurately and efficiently without the delays of traditional methods.

Operator coaching for improved efficiency

Caterpillar’s new Operator Coaching feature empowers equipment operators to improve their performance in real-time. This system monitors each operator’s machine usage and provides actionable tips for efficiency and equipment longevity. For instance, when a specific action that could affect performance is detected, an onboard alert offers immediate feedback to help the operator adjust.

Managers also benefit from remote access to detailed reports on coaching tips triggered by their operators. This allows them to focus on targeted training efforts, improving their teams’ skills while reducing machine wear and fuel consumption. Dashboards and reports offer insights into these coaching tips, categorized into operating efficiency and machine health, so teams can address inefficiencies head-on.

E-ticketing for simplified operations

Gone are the days of manual, printed tickets for material tracking. The new E-Ticketing feature in VisionLink® Productivity digitally records load data, including details on individual buckets, total payload, truck ID, and material type. This data is automatically sent to key personnel via email, enabling faster, more accurate record-keeping. E-Ticketing also offers key performance insights such as ticket count, average truck rate, and total payload, which help streamline workflows and keep projects on track.

Bottom line

Caterpillar’s enhanced VisionLink® Productivity platform brings together cutting-edge tools that enable construction teams to operate with greater efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness. With Cat Grade 3D, Operator Coaching, and E-Ticketing, Caterpillar continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible in job site management.
