Makita 40V max XGT 9-inch Power Cutter (GEC03)

Makita’s new 40V max XGT 9-inch Power Cutter (GEC03) was highly anticipated in the building industry. Those in general contracting and masonry are eager to see this upgrade to the Makita line. This 40V cordless power cutter delivers less vibration and more power than previous models, making it more convenient for specialty trades.

Apart from specialty contracting and masonry, the power cutter serves hardscape contractors and fire and rescue personnel. The cutter can easily cut through metal and masonry materials with a max cutting depth of 3-½ inches. It has 45% more power and runs at 55% less vibration for increased comfort and control.

This power cutter is part of Makita’s XGT family of batteries. It features the iconic brushless motor, which runs cooler and more efficiently for greater tool longevity. The motor also delivers no-load speeds up to 6,600 RPM. The belt drive provides smoother operation, and an electric brake discontinues cutting in two seconds or less for quicker repositioning.

New tool, new safety features

This new Makita tool comes with an integrated water delivery system with a flow adjustment knob, allowing it to continuously feed water for OSHA Table 1 compliance in concrete cutting use cases. Additional safety features include the adjustable blade guard that enables cutting in upper or low wall zones. It also has a rubberized front handle that can be gripped in multiple positions for more comfort in multiple cutting orientations.

The new convenience features include a large spindle lock button for easy blade changes, a lock-off power switch that requires multiple actions to start the tool, and a built-in LED light that maximizes visibility in your workspace. The tool also has overload protection to guard the motor from burnout in high-torque situations.

As of the end of 2024, the Makita XGT line features more than 125 products, so consumers can take advantage and enjoy the wide range of compatibility.
