Makita’s 40V max XGT 4.0Ah high power battery: everything construction pros need to know

Construction worker with impact gun drilling

Makita’s new 40V max XGT 4.0Ah High Power battery offers improved efficiency and performance potential. The 40V XGT 4.0Ah battery runs over 30% cooler than other models while being 34% smaller and delivering up to 35% more power.

Makita’s 40V max XGT 4.0Ah high power battery

The 40V max XGT battery delivers improved performance and up to 35% more power thanks to its tabless cell technology. Cylindrical 21700 tabless cells reduce electrical resistance and boost the battery’s power and efficiency, allowing you to tackle all the heavy-duty jobs on your list.

Tabless cells also allow the battery to operate up to 32% cooler than the existing 40V max XGT 4.0Ah battery and maintain this high performance under continuous heavy loads. By running cooler, the Makita 40V max XGT 4.0Ah High Power battery resists overheating and extends its service life.

These upgrades come in a more compact package, too. The BL4040F is 34% smaller and 27% lighter than its predecessor, the 40v Max XGT 5.0Ah battery. It also comes with an impact-resistant outer case and an inner liner designed to absorb shocks and protect the battery when it’s inevitably dropped, bumped, or thrown in a toolbox.

The digital communication within Makita’s XGT batteries offers optimized performance and up to twice as much sustained power under heavy-load applications. This same digital communication also monitors and protects the battery against overload, over-discharge, and overheating.

An LED charge level indicator allows users to quickly check the charge level, minimizing the likelihood of the battery dying unexpectedly mid-task. When it does run out of juice, the 40V max XGT 4.0Ah battery recharges in just 45 minutes, minimizing downtime.

With its increased power potential, efficiency, and cooling improvements, the 40V max XGT 4.0Ah High Power Battery offers a significant performance upgrade to the Makita cordless tool lineup.
