NileBuilt “wood-free” homes maximize resiliency against Mother Nature

Written By Mariah Moore

NileBuilt Corp is a residential construction company changing the sustainable house game. They’ve found a solution to the residential housing crisis by integrating innovative cementitious building materials into their homes. Best known for their “wood-free” homes, NileBuilt constructs them using advanced composite materials that are entirely fire-resistant and generate as much power as is used through PV solar panels, eliminating utility bills. These homes are sustainable and incredibly resilient against any natural disasters.

Materials made to withstand the elements

NileBuilt’s technology system was first introduced to the market as an efficient building company in Iowa in the late 1980s. They’ve since garnered over 40 years of technological advancements and developed workflows and products consistently proven to work. Since then, the awareness of the housing crisis and the lack of innovation and available resources in housing developments led them to Southern California.

What makes them unique is their exclusion of wood products—their homes are built using their patented system without a wall cavity or other materials that can absorb moisture. This gives them incredibly long-lasting performance, even in long-term flooding.

Homes constructed with wood products have a lower heat of combustion temperature (around 600° F), which can create a snowball effect when fire enters the picture. Once lit, fires are difficult to snuff out and quickly spread from house to house. NileBuilt uses completely non-combustible materials, lowering the risk of fires and keeping families secure and safe.

Wood-framed homes, aside from being structurally not up-to-par, are also vulnerable to high winds, funguses, molds, and a risk of being uninhabitable after a flood.

Built with sustainability

NileBuilt proudly uses propriety composite reinforcement and recycled materials to lower the cement carbon footprint by as much as 65%, contributing to a completely net-zero operating structure. Energy efficiency and environmental impact are as important to NileBuilt as building a strong, secure, weather-resistant home.

The other element that allows NileBuilt to exceed the California Net-Zero Mandate is its patented Building System Technology. This system stores and releases thermal energy absorbed by the home. A PV Solar System and its patented Power Modules enable families to use only the power they generate, doing right by the environment and their monthly energy bill.

NileBuilt is working on a 5,200-square-foot, 6-bedroom, 6.5-bath 2-story demonstration home in Laguna Hills, California. Buyers can expect smaller variations of the house to emerge around California in the near future.
